Homework: Aeroplane Ticket

Welcome back to another exciting term of learning in Year Six. It was wonderful to see the smiles on the students’ faces this morning — matched only by the smiles of the parents! We have a sensational term ahead of us, including our class assembly, open night, excursions, pancake breakfast plus a few very special surprises!

This term, we are continuing our study of culture. Shortly, the students will begin researching a culture from an overseas country. I would like the students to think about the country they would like to research and let me know their choice by Monday.

However, I don’t just want them to tell me their choice. I want them to provide me with an aeroplane ticket, giving me clues about the destination that they have chosen. (You may recall that we did something similar for our studies of  Japan and the USA). I will then need to solve the puzzle and work out which country they have chosen.

The students will need to do a little research to create their aeroplane ticket, but shouldn’t start preparing their actual project just yet. I will be providing plenty of information (plus some time in class) in the days to come.

Puppet Show : Written by Jayde and Christian.

On Friday the 30th of  March, the students from Year 5, 6 and 7 watched a puppet show about Beauty and the Beast. It was in two languages — Italian and English. The Puppeteers were from Melbourne and France.

The characters were : Minestronie, Devil, Beauty, Beast, Signora and Minestrone’s cousin. The Princess had to marry the neighbour but she didn’t want too, so the devil came and tricked her into marrying someone worse. But she fell for it so she had to marry a beast. Signora fainted because the beast though she was Beauty, then the devil came and they dragged her away into the beast’s room but he didn’t want her there because he thought she would eat his mice. Then Ministronie’s cousin warned her but then Devil and Beast came but they took Beast with them and Devil stayed.

It was an interesting puppet show to watch, but some parts of the act was difficult to understand. Over all it was a good show.
