Paint Storm Incursion

Today, the students in LA31 were lucky enough to watch a performance by artist Phil Doncon. His ‘Paint Storm’ incursion combined painting (on an enormous canvas) with music, dance, comedy and even martial arts. Along the way, Phil taught us all valuable lessons about resilience, bullying and managing difficult emotions. These messages fit beautifully with the ‘Aussie Optimism’ program that our students have recently started.

The students in LA31 unanimously agreed that this was one of the most enjoyable incursions that they have seen in a long time. If you would like to see more of Phil’s work (including some really cool time-lapse videos), check out his website at www.paintstorm.com.au.

LA31 class assembly

Well done to everyone involved in Wednesday’s assembly. It was a pleasure to see all of the students dressed up in their wonderful multi-coloured costumes.  Most importantly, our audience learned an important message: When we respect and understand each other’s cultures, we have harmony.

Have a safe and relaxing holiday and we will see you back at school on Tuesday 24 July.

Legends of Landsdale and Kings Park explorers

Well done to all of the everyone who took part in the annual ‘Legends of Landsdale’ cross-country run on Friday. Students from LA 31 performed remarkably well, with Alicia and Cameron being crowned the Year Six winners and Luke and Georgia receiving places. The course is a long one (around 1.6 kilometres) and it was great to see all students challenging themselves and developing their endurance.

We also had a valuable excursion to Kings Park on Tuesday. We explored the native bushland, learned about Nyoongar culture and got in touch with nature at the Rio Tinto Naturescape. (Young Cara got a bit closer to nature than we might have liked, taking a tumble from some climbing ropes. Thankfully no bones were broken!)

Thanks to all parent helpers who helped to make this excursion possible.
