Growth and Development Classes

Question Box

Over the coming weeks, Year Six students at Landsdale Primary will be taking part in a series of growth and development classes.

The classes will cover topics such as respectful relationships, bodily changes, puberty and reproduction. These topics form part of the Health syllabus and are taught to all students in Western Australia under the Curriculum Framework.

By now, you should have received a book entitled ‘Talk Soon, Talk Often’ that was prepared by the Western Australian Department of Health. I strongly encourage all parents to create opportunities for the children to discuss these topics in a safe and supportive environment.

Please feel free to contact me at school if you have any queries at all about this important part of the curriculum.

The Great Escape

gallery_01321855029After much coaxing, convincing and dozens of persuasive letters, the students in LA 28, 29 and 31 have convinced Mr Armstrong to permit an end-of-year excursion to the Great Escape in Hillarys! This will be a fantastic opportunity to recognise and reward the students for their effort, behaviour and learning in Year Six.

The excursion will be held on Friday 29 November and, at the students’ request, will be open only to those students who have consistently followed the school and class agreements. We truly hope and expect that this will be all of the students in LA 28, 29 and 31.

At this stage, it is expected that this excursion will cost approximately $27, which includes entry to the Great Escape, lunch and transport. This cost is within the total annual amount agreed for excursions by the Landsdale School Board.

Permission slips will be sent home shortly. If you are interested in helping supervise this fun day, we would love to hear from you!

Adding decimals

The Year Six students are currently learning about adding decimals. This latest video provides a few examples of decimal addition, from very simple to quite challenging.
